Using a standard depth 12-inch cast iron Dutch oven, coat the bottom and sides with cooking spray or line with a Dutch oven parchment paper liner. (see ** Note)
Pre-heat it to 350 degrees. If you are using campfire coals or charcoal briquettes you will need about 25 coals total = 17 top / 8 bottom. Alternatively, you can use your Dutch oven on a propane camp stove with a Dutch oven dome or in an RV oven if it is large enough.
In a large bowl, mix 4 tablespoons butter, sugar, salt, Bisquick, egg and club soda in a bowl until combined, kneading it with your hands until it is smooth.
Place the biscuit dough on a sheet of wax paper or cutting board and set it on a flat surface. Using your hands, flatten the dough until it is approximately 3/4 inch thick.
Cut biscuits with a biscuit cutter, drinking glass or just a knife to create a round biscuit shape. Depending on the size, you will be making about 9 biscuits.
Drop biscuits in a single layer into the bottom of the hot Dutch oven. Bake until they are golden brown (about 12-15 minutes). If biscuits are done on the bottom before they are slightly browned on the top, just move all the coals from under the oven to the top of the lid. (see *** Note)
Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, remove the Dutch oven from the heat and drizzle the melted butter over the top of the biscuits.
Serve warm and enjoy!

*NOTE: Ingredients marked with * can be pre-measured and mixed at home.**NOTE: If you use a different Dutch oven size, you'll need to adjust the number of coals you use to bake these biscuits. Make sure it is a standard depth (not deep) oven so the biscuits are evenly baked on top and bottom. Use our Dutch Oven Temperature Charthttps://www.campingforfoodies.com/dutch-oven-temperature-chart/ to determine how many coals you'll need.***NOTE: Use a Dutch oven lid lifter to turn the lid and oven about 1/4 turn in opposite directions every few minutes to ensure the biscuits are evenly baked.****NOTE: Using a Dutch oven liner is optional.
