Ain’t skeered of rain! But not stupid either!

Before you let rain deter your next camping trip consider this: Rain clears the dust, clears the air and makes the trees and flowers just a little bit brighter and the air a little bit fresher.  Isn’t fresh air part of the reason you love camping and the Great Outdoors anyway?  So just toughen up and go for it!

Storm Shower

Just make sure you are smart about it.  Remember rain is often accompanied by lightening so when the rain starts moving in make sure you’re not out there hiking your favorite trail.  Instead, take cover under your canopy with your favorite beverage…sit back and relax, smell the rain, hear the trickle of the raindrops (bet you don’t do that when you’re in the city) and enjoy the show!

Oh yeah, one of the most important aspects of camping is cooking, of course!  So, if you’re planning to cook over the campfire you might need to make alternate plans if you can’t keep the campfire going because a shower turned into a downpour.  Consider this a challenge to your culinary abilities and defy the seemingly impossible.  You can do it!

All that being said…DON’T BE STUPID!  Remember that Arizona has a stupid motorist law so if you get stuck in the elements and need Officer Friendly to come to your rescue…you’re going to receive the invoice.  So don’t be skeered but don’t be stupid either…enjoy your next waterlogged camp trip as a savvy outdoor adventurer!

Enjoy your next trip camping in Arizona!

  1. Ahh, one of my favorite pastimes. Watching the rain fall and sipping a beverage. I think we appreciate it more here in AZ.

I’d love details on your favorite beverages for rain watching…are you willing to share? We are so lucky that in AZ we are usually watching a “warm rain” with a “cold beverage”…don’t you agree?
