Best Grilled Asparagus Recipe
Calling mine the best grilled asparagus recipe is a pretty confident claim but it is soooooo true. I’ve tried many fresh grilled asparagus recipes before but never really loved any of them. Then I concocted this one…The balsamic vinegar and fresh garlic combined with the lemon juice and soy sauce make this super easy camp recipe fresh, bold and zingy. It’s perfect as a side dish with a light protein like grilled chicken or fish. Here’s how you make it, serves 4 as a side veggie.

Best Grilled Asparagus Recipe: Garlic and Balsamic Fresh Grilled Asparagus
Mix It
- Camp Cooking Tip: Make the marinade at home and transport to the campsite in a small food storage container in your RV refrigerator or camp cooler.
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (I like using a lemon squeezer)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- black pepper, to taste
Camp Cooking Tip: Always roll your lemons on the counter pressing as you roll…it breaks the membranes which helps release the liquid when you are juicing the lemon. I like using a lemon squeezer to get the most juice out of each lemon.
Marinate It
Combine asparagus and marinade in a sealable plastic bag about 1 hour before grilling to marinate.
1 pound fresh asparagus – washed and tough ends trimmed off
Grill It
Preheat your grill to high heat and slightly oil the rack.
Remove asparagus from bag (throw out the remaining marinade) and cook on grill until desired doneness. It usually takes about 10 minutes total, turn during cooking time so the spears are charred on all sides.
There are several options in grill types to make this grilled asparagus recipe. You can use simple fold-up grills or heavier duty ones to make this over a campfire. You can also use propane grill stoves or grill boxes.
Home Cooking Tip: Not only is this recipe perfect for campfire grilling, it also works great at home on your backyard grill or indoors on a grill pan.
Serve It
I like serving this with grilled chicken or grilled fish. It makes clean-up a breeze when you cook your entire meal on the grill.
