Last Saturday’s episode of the Great Food Good Neighbors (GFGN) TV show was filled with Cajun and Creole classics, gourmet pizza and risotto as well as camp cooking with the backdrop of phenomenal views that can only be found in Arizona! The show airs on AZTV-7 (Cox 13) on Saturday’s at 11:30 a.m. The show featured…

Flavors of Louisiana  – This family owned business is well known for serving two types of Cajun food.  Jennifer Goff, owner, explained “city Cajun” commonly uses a tomato base and is really spicy while “country Cajun” uses dark sauces and rich gravies with milder flavors.  She had her restaurant uniquely decorated by recreating some of her best childhood memories on the Bell River.  Chef Holli Muth shared some secrets in the kitchen by featuring their most popular dish…the Shrimp Po Boy which is served with red beans and rice.  She also highlighted one of their signature dishes: Joliet Rouge which is blackened catfish on a bed of dirty rice covered in a rich tomato based shrimp and crawfish seafood sauce.  They also serve alligator and crawfish that is sourced directly from Louisiana.  And, no meal is complete until finished with a serving of peach cobbler.  As “Good Neighbors” they provide a 20% discount to military members (active or retired) and every Monday kids eat free.

La Bocca Wine Bar and Urban Kitchen  – Talk about a hip place to hang out, nosh on some great food and sip on fabulous wines!  Julian Wright, owner, bought an entire barn and repurposed the wood on to the exterior of the La Bocca North location at High Street creating an inviting impression that beckons you in to the space.  He designed this restaurant to be a social experience.  You’ll find traditional dining tables tucked in a cozy corner but if you’re interested in a more social setting you can hang out at the social tables or the large bar.  Chef Mark Dow shared his creation of Wild Mushroom Risotto as well as the Porco Pizza which uses house made natural pulled pork, serrano chilies, fresh mozzarella, caramelized onions and fresh herbs.  You’ll also find an extensive wine collection which is hand selected by Mark Pope who is a Certified Wine Sommelier and the General Manager.  As “Good Neighbors” they do many community fundraisers.

Kim Hanna’s Camping For Foodies – Enjoying the beautiful Arizona outdoors, Kim made her Grilled Feta and Kalamata Turkey Burgers.  Bold flavors come from this super-simple 4-ingredient burger.  She says an ordinary camp food like burgers can be made extraordinary by just changing the type of meat, bread and cheese you use to create your burgers.  As a “Good Neighbor” Kim donates a portion of her proceeds to World Vision-Building a Better World for Children.

Tune in for another action-packed episode!
