How To Make An Arizona Sunset Cocktail

The most important thing to consider when making a summertime sunset drink is the temperature of your ingredients and your serving glass.

This cocktail is a simple mix of three ingredients … you’ll want to make sure they are fully chilled before you mix the drink.

Camping Cocktail Making Tip: Pouring cold liquids over ice ensures the drink is cold and strong. Warm mixers water down the ice in a glass resulting in semi-warm drinks that lack flavor because the ingredients are diluted with water from melting ice.

Glasses For Camping Cocktails

Pretty drinks deserve to be seen! Sure you could serve your mixed drinks in a red solo cup if you don’t want to carry real glass … but it is nice to be able to show off the colors of a drink like this one.

You may want to consider non-breakable, clear plastic cocktail tumblers. These glasses can be used for serving plain juice at breakfast, then used again for drinks during happy hour.

Making Cocktails For Large Camping Groups

Simple mixed drinks that uses non-carbonated ingredients are the easiest cocktails you can make when you are serving large groups of people.

Instead of making individual servings, multiply as necessary to serve the number of campers in your group. Mix the liquids and store the batch in a refrigerator or cooler until you are ready to serve. Then pour over ice in a serving glass.

Camping Cocktail Making Tip: Don’t add ice to the cocktail mixture big batch. Serve glasses with ice then pour the cocktail mixture into each individual glass so the cocktail stays fresh and bold rather than weak and watered down.

  • This recipe makes one drink but it easily scales for large groups. Multiply as necessary to serve the number of campers in your group. Just make sure you mix the ingredients without the ice so you don’t water down the drinks. Place the cocktail mixture in a cooler or refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Then, provide glasses of ice to each person and pour the chilled drink over each glass of ice at the time of serving.
