Swedish Oven Pancake

Swedish Oven Pancake by CampingForFoodies features two slices of a golden-brown, oven-baked puffed pancake on a blue camping plate. One slice is topped with red salsa for a savory version of the recipe, the other slice is topped with melting butter and maple syrup. A glass syrup bottle is over the plate glistening in sunshine. Bright red strawberries garnish the bottom of the plate.

There are not many one-pot breakfast recipes that can be served two ways, they are usually sweet or savory. This Swedish Oven Pancake is typically served with sweet pancake syrup but I also like having the option to top it with something savory instead. Salsa is a great topping for campers who think sweets are for dessert only.

Italian Sausage Campfire Soup

Hot Italian Sausage Campfire Soup by CampingForFoodies features a black cast iron camp Dutch oven filled with creamy sausage and potato soup with browned bacon and fresh green spinach. The camping soup pot is set on a campfire grate with orange and red flames in the background at the bottom of a fire ring.

This soup is so creamy and hearty, it can absolutely be served as dinner. The meat, potatoes and spinach are a great combination with the chicken broth and heavy cream. This is also a great recipe to serve as a starter with an Italian main dish.

Bacon Wrapped Grilled Cheese

Bacon Wrapped Grilled Cheese by CampingForFoodies features golden brown crispy bacon wrapped around a grilled cheese sandwich that is set on a blue camping plate. A fork and knife are being used to slice the sandwich as golden yellow cheddar cheese oozes from the center of the sandwich onto the plate.

It’s fun to be self-indulgent once in a while and that’s how this sandwich makes me feel. A typical grilled cheese sandwich is something I serve for lunch or as a light dinner but this bacon-wrapped version is so much more than your average sandwich. The crispy bacon creates the perfect envelope for the toasted bread and gooey cheese.

Smores Dutch Oven Brownies

Dutch Oven Brownies by CampingForFoodies features a parchment-paper lined black cast iron camp Dutch oven filled with baked brownies, topped with golden-brown puffed mini marshmallows and graham cracker pieces.

The combination of traditional smores as a topping for a freshly-baked pan of brownies is a delicious and fun campsite dessert. The crunch of the graham cracker adds a nice texture to the soft brownies and gooey toasted mini marshmallows. And, if your under campfire restrictions, you can make this dessert on a propane camp stove or in your RV oven!

Dutch Oven Jambalaya

Easy Jambalaya Recipe by CampingForFoodies features a blue camping plate filled with rice and topped with a jambalaya Dutch oven dinner that includes shrimp, chicken and sausage in a deep red sauce.

Truth be told, jambalaya is not on the top of my list when it comes to dinner recipes, but, my husband absolutely loves it and I enjoy keeping his belly happy! I think it’s tasty too. I don’t like buying ingredients that I use in only one recipe so I’ve substituted traditional ingredients with ones that are readily available in my pantry. I’ve also used techniques that make this recipe easy for campsite cooking.

Dutch Oven Chili

Dutch Oven Chili Recipe by CampingForFoodies features a blue camp bowl filled with beef chili topped with freshly made cornbread. In the background are two camp Dutch ovens, one filled with campfire chili, another filled with jalapeno cornbread.

I make an award-winning Campfire Dutch Oven Chili Recipe but it is not as popular with my family as my brother-in-law’s secret family recipe so I have to give credit where credit is due. I also love it because this is the recipe he submitted and WON the Grand Design RV Rally Chili Contest after he and I lost the cornhole tournament! We were up 20 to 2 and we lost! Check out my YouTube video to see our tournament loss aftermath … ugh! Don’t forget the cornbread!

Pesto Ricotta Pasta Bake

Baked Pesto Pasta With Ricotta by CampingForFoodies features a blue camping plate filled with a serving of this lazy man’s lasagna made with layers of Italian sausage, green basil pesto, cherry tomatoes, ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheese that is golden brown from baking. On the side is a tossed green salad and a thick slice of garlic bread. A black cast iron camp Dutch oven sits in the background that is filled with the remaining pesto pasta bake that is ready to be served with text over the image that reads Pesto Ricotta Pasta Bake.

I absolutely LOVE cheese so this meal automatically satisfies one of my cravings. Pesto and pasta are other ingredients my family and I find delicious. So, this combination is a winner in our book. The other thing that’s really nice about this meal is the minimal prep work required before you can begin baking dinner.

Dutch Oven Shepherd’s Pie

Dutch Oven Shepherd's Pie by CampingForFoodies features a black cast iron Dutch oven filled with a layered casserole containing browned ground beef, mixed vegetables, a layer of mashed potatoes and melted cheddar cheese. A spatula sits in the pot ready to scoop out the next serving.

This recipe reminds me of growing up in the Midwest where warm and hearty meat and potato meals made a regular appearance on our dinner table. One pot casseroles were especially satisfying during cold winter nights. I made this version easy to prep and bake in the wilderness using different types of cooking equipment.

Garlicky Shrimp Alfredo Bake

Garlicky Shrimp Alfredo Bake Recipe by CampingForFoodies features a blue camping plate filled with a serving of creamy, cheesy pasta with shrimp, in the background is a piece of garlic bread and a leafy green salad in a bowl.

One of the reasons I love camping is the slower pace of life. It allows me to enjoy the creative process of cooking and I don’t feel rushed when I want to make a homemade sauce rather than using a jarred sauce. My whole family loves Dutch oven camping recipes that feature creamy sauces in casserole and pasta recipes. It takes a little effort to create homemade alfredo, but, the rich taste and smooth texture is worth it.

Mountain Man Breakfast

Mountain Man Breakfast Recipe by CampingForFoodies features a slice of a sausage, egg, hashbrown and golden melted cheese casserole on a blue camping plate. The meal is topped with sliced green onions, sour cream and red hot sauce. Fresh blueberries, sliced strawberries and bananas are served on the side. Orange and red fresh peppers are also on the plate.

This one-pot breakfast has it all, eggs, potatoes and meat. Casseroles are the perfect menu choice when you want the entire group to eat at once. The southwestern flavors that come from the hot breakfast sausage and canned green chilies in this meal make it more interesting than the typical classic version.
